Welcome back!
Hero Design is new to me, but they’ve obviously been kicking poster butt for awhile now. All the above posters link up to their store. Some are sold out, but that shouldn’t stop you from buying some of what they have handy. Of course, I popped a few questions their way. This is what they had to say about it.
Who is Hero Design?
Hero Design is three designers: Mark Brickey, Beth Manos Brickey and Ryan Besch.
How long have you been designing posters?
We have all been designing posters and flyers since an ancient time we refer to as the ‘high school years’. We started silkscreen printing our own posters by hand in 2005.
Beside your own work, which poster designer(s) inspire you most?
We each have different taste and favorites on current working poster artists, but as a studio I would say collectively we are most inspired by Patent Pending, Aesthetic Apparatus, Art Chantry, The Heads of State, Methane Studios, The Small Stakes, Delicious Design League, there are so many really, this list could go on forever.
Otherwise, I cannot speak for the boys, but for me personally outside of the gigposters world I am also very inspired by the work of Charley Harper, Saul Bass, Paul Rand, Stefan Sagmeister, Milton Glaser and that list could also go on.
If you could do poster work for any band(s), who would it be and why?
Scrantonicity.
What does the future hold for Hero?
Hopefully by next year we will be thousandaires instead of just hundredaires. We aim high over here!
